Are you a looking for a fun place to show off you crafting skills? We are excited to announce that Harbor Game Con will be hosting a cosplay contest this year.
The signups to enter will be available the day of the convention.
Contestants will be divided into 2 age groups. Youth will be 13 and under and adult 13 up. Prizes awarded to top 3 in each age group. A panel of Judges score will score on overall craftsman's ship and originality. During competition each contestant will be asked a question about their cosplay while on stage.
Prizes will consist of Games and gift certificates.
Keep in mind that this will be a family friendly event, so costumes should be family appropriate. If using store bought costumes at least a percentage must be altered or added onto by the wearer.

Marrakesh

About Game:
Compete with other influential families in the city to achieve the most honorable titles through the skillful use of assistants and resources at your disposal. The player who succeeds in doing this best becomes the new "Obermufti" of Marrakesh.
Marrakesh is played over three rounds, with each round consisting of four turns. On each turn, players simultaneously and secretly choose three colored cylinders from behind their screen. Then, in turn order, they place matching colored assistants on their player board (these will be the actions they will perform later), then all cylinders are placed in the cube tower. The cube tower randomizes which cylinders are available this round, with some getting stuck and some from previous rounds coming out.
In turn order, players select a color and take 1-2 of the cylinders that have passed through the tower (or those that were stuck from a previous round but have now emerged) and place them on their player boards. These cylinders will enhance future actions taken in the same color in future rounds. Then, in turn order players will activate the regions where they have placed an assistant.
Actions allow players to gain wealth, which can be traded for influence in the city. Performing various actions also earns bonuses and enhances actions even more as the game proceeds. The player who scores the most points by the end of the game wins.

Build a galactic empire...
In the depths of space, the alien races of the Cosmos vie with each other for control of the universe. Alliances form and shift from moment to moment, while cataclysmic battles send starships screaming into the warp.
This classic game of alien politics returns from the warp once more!
In Cosmic Encounter, each player becomes the leader of one of dozens of alien races, each with its own unique power. On a player's turn, he or she becomes the offense. The offense encounters another player on a planet by moving a group of his or her ships through the hyperspace gate to that planet. Both sides can invite allies and play cards to try and tip the encounter in their favor.
The object of the game is to establish colonies in other players' planetary systems. The winner(s) are the first player(s) to have five colonies on any planets outside his or her home system. These colonies may all be in one system or scattered over multiple systems. The players must use force, cunning, and diplomacy to ensure their victory. And, because alliances are a key part of the game, multiple players can win together!
This game has held up for 45 years! Variable player powers make no two games the same.

BattleTech: Alpha Strike, you take command of large stompy robots, and fight other large stompy robots. Using the BattleTech: Alpha Strike game system/ruleset that allows for faster gameplay, giving players the ability to handle larger number of units, while simplifying the handling of combat.

Ticket to ride is the cross country train adventure game! Players collect cards of various types of train cars to enable them to claim railway routes, connecting cities throughout North America the longer the roots, the more points they earn additional points come to those who can fulfill their destination tickets by connecting two distant cities and to the player who builds the longest continuous railway so climb a board for some railroading fun and adventure!
Ticket to Ride is a classic European styled board game with quick paced turns. This game is great for beginners as it is easy to learn!
Jewels for the Emperor Penguin

About Game:
In Jewels for the Emperor Penguin you’ll take control of a guild of penguins climbing a steep frozen cliff to find jewels in order to make treasure for your emperor!
Every player gets five penguins which they’ll move up the cliff to activate abilities at each location. Look out though, because if you move on a space with another person’s penguin, they’ll get part of that ability as well!
Generally, you’ll obtain rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds which you’ll use to trade for beautiful items that give you points. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins!
This is a light-medium weight game that’s easy to learn. If you missed the Kickstarter campaign, or backed it, here’s your chance to check it out before it goes to retail this summer.

About Game:
Based on simple and intuitive hand management, Heat: Pedal to the Metal puts players in the driver's seat of intense car races, jockeying for position to cross the finish line first, while managing their car's speed if they don't want to overheat. Selecting the right upgrades for their car will help them hug the curves and keep their engine cool enough to maintain top speeds. Ultimately, their driving skills will be the key to victory!
Drivers can compete in a single race or use the "Championship System" to play a whole season in one game night, customizing their car before each race to claim the top spot of the podium. They have to be careful as the weather, road conditions, and events will change every race to spice up their championship. Players can also enjoy a solo mode with the Legends Module or add automated drivers as additional opponents in multiplayer games.

In Ready Set Bet, you and your friends head to the races for a day of cheering, jeering, and betting on your favorite horses, whose fates hang on every roll of the dice.
Ready Set Bet is played over four rounds. Each round consists of a race followed by bet resolution. During each race, players freely place their bet tokens on the board while the race is going on. After each race, players win or lose money for each of their placed bet tokens, then receive a VIP Club Card to help them win more money in the following races. After four rounds, the player with the most money wins!

About Game:
On an uninhabited island in uncharted seas, explorers have found traces of a great civilization. Now you will lead an expedition to explore the island, find lost artifacts, and face fearsome guardians, all in a quest to learn the island's secrets.
Lost Ruins of Arnak combines deck-building and worker placement in a game of exploration, resource management, and discovery. In addition to traditional deck-builder effects, cards can also be used to place workers, and new worker actions become available as players explore the island. Some of these actions require resources instead of workers, so building a solid resource base will be essential. You are limited to only one action per turn, so make your choice carefully... what action will benefit you most now? And what can you afford to do later... assuming someone else doesn't take the action first!?
Decks are small, and randomness in the game is heavily mitigated by the wealth of tactical decisions offered on the game board. With a variety of worker actions, artifacts, and equipment cards, the set-up for each game will be unique, encouraging players to explore new strategies to meet the challenge.

Daybreak is a co-operative game about climate action. Each player controls a world power, deploying policies and technologies to both dismantle the engine of global heating and to build resilient societies that protect people from life-threatening crises.
If the global temperature gets too high, or if too many people from any world power are in crisis, everyone loses. But if you work together to draw down global emissions to net-zero, you all win!
Terraforming Mars: The Dice Game

About Game:
Terraforming Mars: The Dice Game is a card-driven dice game in which players use special dice to develop their corporations and terraform Mars into a new home for humanity. The dice represent resources that players spend to play cards and perform other actions. During the game, you increase your production of dice, terraform, place cities and greenery tiles on the board, and gain various bonuses. Each turn, you either produce new dice (Production Turn) or perform actions (Action Turn).
Whenever you terraform Mars (raise oxygen or temperature, or place an ocean tile), you gain 2 Victory Points (VP). You can also gain VP for placing tiles and playing cards, as well as winning Awards and Milestones.
The game ends when two of the three global parameters — oxygen/temperature/ocean — have been completed. The player with most VP wins.

Gather items, place dragons and cast enchantments to enhance the shops of this adorable, pun-filled town. Visit a shop to gain items and a favor from one of the dragons there.
Gathered items can be used to enchant a shop, gaining reputation and the favors of all the dragons in the shop. If you are fortunate enough to attract fancy dragons then you will have opportunities to secure even more reputation.

About Game:
In a far-distant future, humans no longer inhabit Earth. The cause of their disappearance (or perhaps their demise) is unknown, but their absence left a void ready to be filled by another sentient species.
Over the span of untold generations, one species of the humble honeybee evolved to fill that void. They grew in size and intelligence to become a highly advanced society. They call themselves Mellifera, and they have made substantial technological advances in addition to the technology they adapted from human ruins, up to and including space travel.
In Apiary, each player controls one of twenty unique factions. Your faction starts the game with a hive, a few resources, and worker bees. A worker-placement, hive-building challenge awaits you: explore planets, gather resources, develop technologies, and create carvings to demonstrate your faction's strengths (measured in victory points) over one year's Flow. However, the Dearth quickly approaches, and your workers can take only a few actions before they must hibernate! Can you thrive or merely survive?
